I know that sometimes life feels like we’re swimming against the current, running out of energy and all alone. But what if I told you that you were never alone? What if we really believed that God was always with us everywhere we went? 

One of my favorite phrases is a reminder that there’s nothing we can do to change the way God loves us. We can run, but God pursues us. We can hide, but God finds us. We can tell him to get lost, but never leaves us alone. Some of you will be starting new adventures in the next few months – new jobs, new schools, college, moving to a new home or something totally different. When we start something new it’s easy to feel all alone.

Recently a friend told me how great it is to know that even when we don’t pursue God, he still pursues us. You know that’s pretty comforting isn’t it? As followers of Jesus, we spend our lives trying to get things right. But let’s be honest, that’s just not gonna happen. We won’t get it right. We’ll do better at somethings while we fail at others.

One of the things that I find so comforting about being a follower of Jesus is the reality that he does everything for me but it’s never really about me. He created the world with you and me in mind but it wasn’t about us. It was about his love for us. When Adam and Eve hid in the garden back in Genesis, God went looking for them. He wasn’t going to leave them. He went after them.

I look at all of the things I have done wrong in life and think that it would just be easier if God would run away. He doesn’t have to love me. He doesn’t have to forgive me. I mean I wouldn’t forgive me half the time. But that’s not how God works. He loves us and pursues us and he will never run away! Go through your day knowing that there’s nothing you can do to make God love you any more and there’s nothing you can do to make him love you any less.
