Words are so powerful. They are all around us. And in this day and age our words are especially challenging because we so often send words that are just words on a screen. The power of words is often found in the way they are spoken or the facial expressions that accompany them. But what about written, or typed, words? 

If you’re like most people, you send countless text messages everyday. You probably even type and send them without even double checking to make sure the words are right. There are numerous graphics about the ways that autocorrect changed our words in ways that are really embarrassing.

With words floating around so freely, it’s easy to forget how truly important they are, and careful we should be with them. This week’s song is about a word, not a bunch of them but a single word. This word isn’t a difficult word. Actually it’s pretty common. Just about everyone has heard this word. Some of us use it properly while others of us use it in inappropriate ways. The word has the power to bring life into a situation that is lifeless.

The word is the Jesus. Sounds kind of cray, I know! But this word is all about life. It’s all about taking what was broken and making it whole. The name of Jesus is a word that can bring new life to dying things and healing to hurting ones. This word opens our eyes so we can see things as they’re supposed to be. This word of life causes our ears to hear the beauty of the world around us. The word of life takes my weary and tired days and fills them with energy, passion and excitement.
