Mondays are great days to look back and to look ahead. When we look back, we reflect on where we’ve been. We see the good and the bad. We, at times, relive the mistakes we’ve made. We feel regret over our failures. Shame often takes over and brings us to our knees in what we believe to be a pile of nothingness. But other days when we look back we can smile because we know that through all of it, God was always by our side.
But not only do we look back. We also have to look forward. When we look forward we see the large list of to-dos looming on the horizon. We see Christmas racing toward us and we’re not at all prepared. We see projects, assignments, finals, and end of year reports to prepare. We get so distracted that we forget what really matters.
My prayer for you today is that you see God in the middle of your day. I pray you see him when your day begins as you see the sun peak on the horizon. I pray that you see him at lunch when you don’t have to think about where you will get your next meal. I pray you see him tonight when you come home to a warm home. I pray you feel him tonight as you lie in bed wrapped in the warmth of your blanket. May you know that through all of it, Jesus is present and he remains your God.
