Christians are tricky people. We say we believe in something but so often that thing we believe doesn’t really seem to do much to us. It’s like we’re saying I believe it…kind of but need more time to process it. But that’s not really how this whole Jesus follower thing works. The bible tells us that we’re either hot for him or cold against him but lukewarm just isn’t going to cut it! This week we spend a few minutes looking at what we live for as Christ followers.
When we first hear the message of Jesus and the difference the gospel, or good news, makes in our lives, it’s easy to be on fire. We jump into church attendance and start moving forward in acts of service to those around us. We give to the church of our time, ability and even our offerings. But something happens the longer we’re involved in the church. Somehow. For some reason. It seems to become less significant in our lives. It’s almost as if we forget what we’re living for.
Following Jesus comes with a passion. It comes with a fire in our belly that nothing else can satisfy. We live to go where he says go. To say what he says to say. To do what he says to do. When we get confused and don’t know which way to go. When we forget our way or how we’re called to live a different kind of life – perhaps we need a reminder that this is what we live for! Check out this week’s MusicMonday. You’ll be glad you did!
