Life is filled with ups and downs. In the moments when life is going well, we feel like we’re on top of the world and nothing can take us down. But in the moments when the bottom drops out and life is just falling apart all around us, it’s easy to just throw in the towel and think that things will never get better. But how do you manage the ups and the downs in life? How do you handle the peaks and the valleys of life? Where do you go to just find a little peace and quiet? Where is your shelter when the storms of life come crashing down?

This week we look at a song by Carrolton called Shelter. The message is simple yet powerful. It’s the message of a normal life with all of its ups and downs. The song takes us through the valley when everything we touch falls apart. It’s almost the reverse of the story of the Midas touch. Instead of everything we touch turning to gold, it all just falls apart in our hands.

So where do you turn when life simply doesn’t go the way  you think it should? What do you do when death, devastation and despair surround you? Where do you hide when you just can’t go anymore?

This song is a prayer for those who sit high on the mountain when everything goes well. It’s a prayer for those who lie face first in the mud and manure of life. Where do you turn? Turn to the only shelter that can protect you high on the mountain or deep in the valley. His name is Jesus and He’s the only one who can be there in the highs and the lows! Find shelter in Him today.
