This week at Living Word Galena we took a moment to stop and just be. It’s a pretty hard thing to do if you’re honest with yourself. Not focusing on work or to do lists or meetings or meal planning on running kids around or band practice or sporting events but just stopping for even just a minute to be, simply be.

The way we look in life will often tell how well we can just be with Jesus. When we’re focused on how we need to live and rules and traditions and all that mess, we’ll be so consumed by doing that being won’t make sense. I mean think about it for a minute we live as if our salvation depends on us. We set up all of these hurdles that say if we do it this way we’ll be better off, as if I can do life right enough to earn something from God. Salvation is free!

But there’s more to that sentence. While salvation is free, just read the Bible to find more on that one, following Jesus has a cost. We can’t keep being the same old person to be a follower. Following Jesus requires resetting ourselves and living a little different kind of life. So if we’re not willing to be different than the world, we’ll never be followers of Jesus!

The world runs around trying to get ahead, but Jesus stops and prays. He listens to His Father. His whole life was about being where His Father wanted him to be. Just be. If you have a minute to just be, maybe you can listen to this week’s message.
