Ready To Be Myself

If we’re being honest, we’ve all tried to change the way we look or act to fit in and be like a certain group. Sometimes it may feel like you have a dozen personalities to fit each group but none of them really feel like you. So often we become someone we are not meant to be just to be loved by the people of the world. Maybe no one sees through the face you put on. Occasionally a really good friend will be able to notice you aren’t yourself. However, God notices every time.

It’s exhausting trying to be someone you’re not. Maybe you’re feeling like you’re finally ready to be yourself. Well I’m telling you God is overjoyed that you want to be yourself for Him. He wants to see the real you, the way He created you. This week’s Music Monday, Ready To Be Myself, is a reminder from David Dunn, what it is like to let go and be yourself.

How many times have we changed ourselves to get the adoration of people? What really matters is what God thinks of you, and God is infatuated by you. It’s time to stop living for the love of sinful people, and start becoming our real selves before God.

Who are you? How do you act when you’re alone? Who is the real you? God is waiting for you to talk to Him and be real. He’s waiting to watch the real you where you live work and play. He wants to see his beautiful creation for what He made it to be. So stop trying to please others, take a breath, let go, and get ready to be yourself.

“But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus,  to put off your old self which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,  and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:20-24
