This past week we had the opportunity to share in a magnificent event for some amazing people in our community! It was by far the most rewarding experience of my life so I wanted to share this with you here. Normally, these Music Monday posts are Christian songs that have made their way into the top of the charts but this week we’re doing something different.

If you’re not familiar, the Tim Tebow Foundation sponsors an event called Night to Shine. It’s a prom event for people with special needs. The event is hosted in churches around the world! This year it was in 26 countries and in over 700 locations. We, at Living Word, had the privilege of hosting this event and it was truly an experience to remember!

The night had everything from food donated by Chick-fil-a and Cameron Mitchel desserts, to BlueLine Entertainment DJ service and Columbus Photo Booth Company. The whole facility was transformed for this one night! We even got cars from Coughlin Automotive of Marysville to take our honored guests on a fun ride around the block. It was amazing!

This week’s Music Monday is the theme song for the night – Our Night to Shine by Rascal Flatts. The idea behind the song and the whole night is that we were meant to shine. No one can tell us that we’re unloved or unwanted. No one can change the value we have or the worth we possess. As we played the song and crowned each attendee as a King and Queen of the prom we reminded them that we have something far more important and priceless than the crown they received on Friday night. They are children of God. They are princes and princesses in God’s Kingdom.
