So many words we use in church are hollow and meaningless. We use them every week but rarely do we talk about their thrust and emphasis. In this week’s MusicMonday, we find an old song that’s new to me. It’s called Mercy Is A Song. If mercy was a song, what would it sing to you? What would it’s melody sound like? How would the chorus ring from your lips and your hands? If mercy is a song, is it one you can hear from those around you? How well do you sing this song to others?

Mercy is what allows us to live when living isn’t easy. It allows us to forgive when others hurt. But this song is about more than just mercy. It’s about forgiveness and freedom, guilt and grace. It’s about letting our whole life sing a song that gives honor and glory to the God who made us.

What song does your life sing? How does the chorus of God’s forgiveness, life and salvation fall from the words you speak and the actions you perform? Today as you go through your routine, look for ways to sing the song of mercy, grace and freedom. Look for opportunities to proclaim, not just with your words but with the song of your life, the sweet melody of mercy and grace and truth and forgiveness. Sing it now. Sing it loud. Sing it for all to hear.
