I’m preparing to head out to a pretty monstrous event this week. I’ll be surrounded by 25,000 young people who are all gathering for one reason, to worship and grow in their faith. I’ve been to this gathering several times before and it’s always a fantastic experience! This year they’re bringing in recording artist I Am They. This group has become a favorite of mine. They’re more mellow than some but they’re songs have a powerful message. Not too long ago I wrote about their song Scars. It’s definitely worth a listen! But today we’ll focus on a new one.

This week’s song is called Make A Way. The message of the song is really for those of us who have found our way into a desert place or feel up against a wall. It’s a message for those who feel lost and alone. It’s for those who feel alone on an island while they watch everyone row vigorously away from them. This song is a reminder that God is leading us to our current place for a reason. We’re here for a purpose. We may not know what it is. We might not realize it for some time actually! But there’s a reason. I can assure you no matter how pointless the struggle there’s a reason you’re in the middle of it.

The point of the struggle is often to get through it. The point of the struggle is to see where you’ll lean when you’re in the middle of the pain. I know it’s tempting to try to ignore the pain or even pray it’s taken away but perhaps the point of the pain and struggle is the growth that you’ll find as you make your way through it.

Remember as you journey through your own personal desert, as you find yourself up against a wall, as you feel lost and alone, God makes a way. He’ll make a way through it and you’ll be a better person on the other side of the pain because you went through it! Stay the course my friend and remember you’re never alone! There’s always someone on that island with you. Perhaps you just need to open your eyes and look a little closer.
