We spend so much time trying to please other people. We strive for the best grades. We work longer hours to please the boss. We go the extra mile so that we can get into someone’s good graces.
Often we do the same thing with our relationship with God. We try to please him. We think that our wordy prayers will somehow bring him a smile. We act as if going through the motions will be enough. But what if we realized that nothing you can do will make God love you any more or less? What would be different?
If we truly believed the things that Jesus teaches in the bible, we would live a different kind of life. We wouldn’t go through life just going through the motions. Rather we’d live a life of meaning and purpose. When we realize that God loves us for who he created us to be we’re free to see things differently. It’s like some sort of chains are removed from our lives. We so often chain ourselves to our own things and ideas and it weighs us down. We chain ourselves to the ideals of this world, and it makes us tired just trying to keep up.
Today, I want to assure you that you are loved. You are loved by a God who held nothing back to save you. You are loved not for who you can be nor for who you want to be but for who you are right now.
Live like you’re loved because you are!
