This week we started a new series in our worship at Living Word Galena. It’s a study all about the book Song of Songs. While the words of this book are pretty raw, it has a powerful message for all of us. I’m using this week’s Music Monday as a response to that raw yet powerful message. 

The song Joy by For King & Country is a fun one to be sure. But don’t get caught up just in the music or the video but listen to the words. Pay attention to what they are saying. Yesterday in worship we talked about passion and about how God desires for us to long for him like a bride longs for her husband. We talked about the depth of the connection that Solomon shared with this young woman and how God desires this connection with us.

Now listen to the song. Remember the joy that comes from being loved. Remember the joy that hits you heart when someone remembers something about you. Live in the moment of God’s #altogetherbeautiful life that he’s granted you.

You see everyday we have a choice of what moves us in life. We often respond to life with fear and trepidation. But there’s a better life. The better life is one that’s moved by love, beauty and joy. Today I pray that joy invades your heart. I pray that joy fills you to the point that others see it bursting from you.

When joy is the choice in our lives, it doesn’t matter what life throws at us. We’ll see the perils, struggles, pains and hurts. But those don’t define us. Just look around and you’ll quickly see all of the many answers that God places around you. Answers to the questions of the longing of your heart. You are the one he pursues. And now he invites you to pursue him the same way. Live a life knowing that you are loved and find joy!
