Sometimes in life things get a little out of hand. We lose sight of the things that really matter in life. Challenges and hardships take over and all we can see is darkness. And darkness is frightening because it contains so many unknowns.

It’s in these moments that we need just a little hope. We start to crave something that seems to lie just out of reach. It feels as if we are starving for something bigger than we deserve. We look for it in the attention from our significant other. We try to pacify this desire through any means necessary, but all to no avail. We are just left wanting and empty.

But what if that thing for which we’ve been looking was right there the whole time? What if the thing we’ve been seeking is already in our possession and we just need someone to point it out?

That thing we’re looking for is hope. That hope isn’t found in special date. It’s not there at the bottom of a bottle. It’s not in the raise at work or the word of encouragement from a friend. The hope that will truly make a difference in our lives is found in our relationship with Christ. It’s a hope that changes the way we see the world. This hope unlocks a world of possibility. It helps us see that in our hands we already contain everything we need.

This hope is the thing that will allow us to renew our vision for a new year. This hope will propel us into the future that God has in store for us. Here’s praying that your 2017 is filled with this new hope in Christ.
