Hearts Waiting

This week’s Music Monday is coming a bit late. I guess that’s the problem of being a blogger, pastor during the week before Christmas! But this week’s song is a great one! I’ve been searching for powerful Christmas songs that are different, yet speak the same prominent message of grace and peace at Christmastime. Hearts Waiting is a new song with an old spin. The hearts of humanity waited for centuries for a King to rescue them from evil. What they got wasn’t exactly what they were seeking. He was so much more!

Hearts are waiting is a dominant theme in the days leading up to Christmas morning. As children we waited with great anticipation for the gifts brought by that jolly man in a red suit. As we grew older our waiting was more focused on the time spent with family and friends. And eventually we got the idea right. We realized that Christmas isn’t about gifts or even time with family. Christmas is about Christ. It’s about hearts waiting for the coming of a king, a shepherd, a potter, a living branch who would give us shelter, a guide through troubled times. Christmas is far more than the hype of the holiday!

If your heart is waiting in stressful anticipation for Christmas then you’re probably doing it wrong. Your focus is probably on the wrong thing this season! Step back from the presents that still need wrapped. Forget the travel plans. Forget the packing. Forget the Oh no it’s not done yet list! Put it down and get your heart right. Wait for the King this Christmas. Wait for the Prince of Peace. He’s the one who will make this Christmas everything it was meant to be. Is your heart waiting for the right things this Christmas?
