I love the season of Christmas! It’s wonderful and gives a strange sense of warmth that just isn’t there the rest of the year. But this year’s been somewhat different. There have been a lot of things going on this year and I just feel busier than normal. I’ve not really felt that whole Christmas spirit thing that I normally have by early October.

The whole Christmas excitement is growing in me lately and quite frankly it better! Christmas is only a couple of days away! You better be ready. But what is it about this time of year that’s so special? What is it that we’re waiting for this Christmas?

There’s a song I stumbled upon last week that really seemed to speak to me. The song is He Has Come For Us. I’d never heard it before but wow! It made me stop for a second and just pause to reflect on the meaning of this Christmas season. We look for meaning in all the wrong places. We fret that our giving will be outdone or that we won’t get the thing we’ve been asking for.

The song for today is combines the familiar lyrics of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen with some powerful words of He Came For Us. This Christmas remember that there’s more than a baby in that manger. It’s more than a child we come to see. It’s a God who became man. God traveled through space and time to come and be with us as his people. He then opened the door for us to be with him forever. That’s what Christmas is about. It’s about a Savior who came for us! He has come for us!
