Grace. This is a word that has been used in churches for years. Only recently did I discover what it meant and how it affected lives. Grace is getting the good you don’t deserve. For example, because of our sinful nature we deserve death, but Jesus died and we can spend eternity in heaven with Him. We deserve death, but instead we get eternal life with Jesus, that’s grace.

This weeks Music Monday is a popular song from Matthew West titled Grace Wins. This song is a reminder that even our worst mistakes were washed clean by the grace of God. It may be difficult to truly understand grace because we don’t have to do anything to get it. In fact, in our worst moments, God gives us grace.

Have you ever made a mistake so bad you thought it was unforgivable? Have you ever hurt others or disappointed a loved one because of your mistake. The guilt becomes so powerful it almost eats you up inside. Recently, I was fighting my own war between guilt and grace. I kept running back to guilt because I thought I was too far from God’s grace. Fortunately, that’s not how God’s grace operates. I was so overcome with guilt, but as soon as my eyes were reopened to the grace of God, I was freed from all the doubt and guilt in my life.

Guilt will always start a war with grace. The next time you’re feeling beat down by guilt and shame, the next time you think you’ve messed up so bad that you’re too far from God’s grace, take a listen to this song. Grace wins every time and always will. Rise in victory and sing Hallelujah every time you hear the word grace, because that is God’s special gift to you. You will never be able to outrun the grace of God.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:23-24
