Well that was one interesting Easter to be sure. Churches were empty. Few people wore those Easter fancy outfits. Egg hunts didn’t happen like normal. It was just a weird situation all the way around. But one thing didn’t change in that whole mixed up situation. The grave was still empty. He was still gone!

This week’s Music Monday is really all about the fact that Jesus is gone. He’s not in the grave. The body is off of the cross. He can’t be found behind the stone. Nothing is the same as it was but the thing that matters most this Easter hasn’t changed at all. He’s risen just as he said.

Like the tomb many church buildings around the world were empty this Easter. But just because the building was empty doesn’t mean the church is gone. Jesus is gone from the cross. His body is gone from the grave. The people are gone from the building but the church is still very much here.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are the church wherever we are and wherever we go. We are the church when we gather around His Word. We are the church when we pray for one another. We are the church when we share a meal together in our homes. We are the chruch when we serve those around us. We are the church no matter where we go or what happens in this world because it is Christ who is gone but coming back who gives the church our identity.

He’s gone but not forever. He’s coming back! Sing Hallelujah!
