Being a Monday morning it’s time for another song of the week. This one is a song that I really didn’t understand until I read the lyrics closely. The words are very easy to understand but maybe it’s because I only listen to the radio while driving with the sunroof open going down the highway. At any rate, I never really understood how powerful these lyrics were – then like a hero that takes a stage when we’re on the edge of our seats saying it’s too late well let me introduce you to amazing grace. Give it a listen here…

It’s such a hard thing to grasp in our world, isn’t it. The idea of grace seems so foreign to our work for it world. We often think there’s a catch or a gimmick. But that’s just not the case with grace. We think we have to earn it or do some kind of ritualistic song and dance to make it ours, but that’s not how grace operates.

The lyrics to the song remind us that we often think there has to be more. But the reality of the situation is – the cross is all we need. The cross makes us flawless. It doesn’t prevent us from doing bad things or from hurting others, but it makes us flawless in the eyes of God. There’s no need for hoops and hurdles. There’s not a need for doing much of anything. Just fall before God and receive all that he freely gives you.

No matter the hurt, pain, struggle, hatred, anger, destruction you’ve caused…the cross has already made you flawless in the eyes of your God. Take time this week to live out your flawlessness where you live, work, and play.
