This week is actually a request in our MusicMonday series. Have you heard the song Even So Come by Kristian Stanfill? The song contains a powerful image of the church. Let’s look at the words for a minute:

Call back the sinner. Wake up the saint. Let every nation shout of your fame. Jesus is coming soon.

Do you see it? Right there in those lyrics is a wonderful picture of what will happen when Jesus returns. There’s no maybe or possibly. This is a certain reality of the future. All who have ever lived will be brought before God. The sinner and the saint alike. Everyone will come. Not everyone will believe but everyone will come and they’ll realize that there’s only one name worthy of speaking in that moment – Jesus.

Like a bride waiting for her groom, we’ll be a Church ready for You.

Now this one is a vivid image in my mind. Guys, if you’re married, remember back to your wedding day. I know for some of you it will be easier than others, but still give it a try. Remember what it was like to see your bride walk around the corner in the back of the church or wedding hall? Remember what it was like to see her all dress up and ready for that day? This is exactly the picture we see here. The only difference is we collectively are the one for whom Jesus will return. We’re the one, the church, known as the bride. We’re called to be ready, prepared, dressed for the day when we will present ourselves to Jesus.

What a powerful image we see here in this song of all who believe in Christ being ready for Jesus! The Scriptures remind us that we won’t know the day or time so we should live readied lives continuously. Are you ready for Jesus? He’s coming soon! Even so come Jesus!
