Since there are only so many weeks to celebrate Christmas and there are some pretty great Christmas songs, I thought it’d be good to take a few weeks of our #musicmonday this year and celebrate Christmas. Christmas this year is a song that talks of the transition between fall and Christmas. The message is one of anticipation.
What do you look forward to at Christmas time? Is it the presents? Maybe the snow? You could be one of those people who like the cold? Every year Christmas seems to take on a new meaning for me. With every passing year and every new person met I see a little something different on Christmas morning.
As a child I thought Christmas was all about the presents, but the more Christmases I celebrate the more I realize that Christmas is about the opportunity to give thanks and praise. All year we receive blessing and gift after blessing and gift. We’re surrounded by so many people who love and care for us. Christmas is a time for us to just enjoy all that life has to offer.
I pray that Christmas this year is a season for you to truly embrace that God came near to save you. The whole story of Christmas is about a God who broke into earth to give you and me something of greater value than a stocking or package beneath the tree. He came to give us life. He came to give us love. He came to teach us how to love one another. May the love of Christ be yours for Christmas this year.
