Rescue Story

You are my rescue story, never giving up on me.

Maybe you’ve never been lost or abandoned. Maybe you’ve never had that moment in your life when you felt like you needed a superhero to swoop in to save you. Maybe you’ve never come face to face with a life or death moment. But we’ve all needed rescued at one point or another. Maybe you were lost as a child and you panicked when you couldn’t find your parents. Perhaps you needed someone to come to your aide when your day threw you so hard for a loop that you couldn’t find which way was up. No matter what the apparent devastation you’ve faced, there’s a deeper hurt and bigger emergency from which we need saving.

Hold Her

Maybe it’s a business trip. Maybe it’s a move to a new place. Maybe it’s just a temporary distance. This song was written by one of the members of For King and Country as they were on tour. He was praying that God would hold his wife while he was away. I’m not sure who you’re away from right now or who you’re praying this song over but take comfort and know that God is doing just that holding her tonight.

King of Kings

I recently stumbled accidentally across a song that has pretty much been on repeat for the last several days. This song isn’t fast. It’s not super loud or even upbeat but wow is it ever powerful! Hillsong has a way of crafting songs that hit the message of the bible perfectly! If you’ve ever wanted to know the story of Jesus but don’t know where to start in the bible, then this song might be a great place to begin.

Borrow (One Day At A Time)

Anxiety! Worry! Fear! Stress! They’re everywhere! Just turn the corner and a new mountain of tasks mounts on yoru desk and another pile of to-do’s is added to your list. Then consider back to school, extracurriculars, keeping the house organized, the big project at work, Christmas is really not that far away, volunteer hours, and the list goes on and on. It’s almost like there’s just too much worry to be able to healthily manage our day to day affairs!

Nobody

Ever look in a mirror and not really like what you see? Ever think you’re not really cut out for this thing? Maybe you wrestle with not feeling like you’re good enough. Self-esteem in the ditch and purpose waning like it doesn’t even exist? I have to admit this is a problem for so many people. It’s easy to put on a show like you’ve got it all together. We put on a smile and act all confident but inside we wonder why in the world God chose us to do this thing.

From The Day

A band that has found a spot on my playlist a lot lately is the group I AM THEY. This week’s MusicMonday is about the places where God finds us. All too often we approach church life and life in Christ as if we need to arrive before we get there. It’s like we think we need to shed the junk of our lives before coming to meet Jesus. There is so much flawed in this thinking! There is so much wrong in this approach to life that it’s almost impossible to write about it all! The short version is this…

Church (Take Me Back)

Ever feel like you just don’t belong in this world? Ever feel like something is missing? Ever have that feeling like you’ve lost something you once had? This week we go to church. It’s the place where we belong. It’s the people we call family and friends. It’s the time when time stands still. But it’s not a building. It’s not a time. It’s not a location or a service. It’s a people with a message and a mission.

Make A Way

I’m preparing to head out to a pretty monstrous event this week. I’ll be surrounded by 25,000 young people who are all gathering for one reason, to worship and grow in their faith. I’ve been to this gathering several times before and it’s always a fantastic experience! This year they’re bringing in recording artist I Am They. This group has become a favorite of mine. They’re more mellow than some but they’re songs have a powerful message. Not too long ago I wrote about their song Scars. It’s definitely worth a listen! But today we’ll focus on a new one.

Raise a Hallelujah

This week it’s time to rise above the challenges in life. We all have them. Struggles are all around us. Enemies are larger than life. Doubts flood our minds. Heartbreak settles in. Fear overtakes us. Darkness seems to win. No matter where we turn it seems as if we’re getting farther and farther behind in life and we just don’t know where to turn. And to make matters worse, our worship life is flat at best and we feel all alone going through these horrific moments.

Every Giant Will Fall

The church is quiet. Not a peep is being made. This is a far cry from last week! Last week this place was bustling with activity for our very own 2019 Giants VBS! This year we decided to write our own curriculum because we had the talent to do it! I’m in awe of the way God provided for what we needed with so many willing hands and skilled men and women this week! And I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a huge shout out to Maddy for all the behind the scenes work she did to keep this ministry moving! It was a giant of a task! But VBS isn’t the only giant we face in life is it?
