Ever have one of those throw in the towel kind of days? One of those days when you are just done with it all? Every once in a while the weight of the world seems just a little too heavy and all you want to do is crawl back in bed and just sleep it all away. Or perhaps you’re not the sleep it all away kind of person, but you’re just tired of fighting. Either way this week’s Music Monday is a song you really need to sit down for and listen to closely. There’s even a link to the lyrics at the bottom of this post so you can take them all in. Continue reading

I’ve been blessed with some pretty good eyesight. As a matter of fact my eye doctor has instructed me that I don’t even need to come every year. But not everyone has the same eye condition. As a matter of fact, I’m the only one in my house that doesn’t need glasses for one reason or another. As we think about eyes, I’m reminded of a condition known as nearsightedness. It’s a condition in which the up close things are clear while things that are far in the distance are blurry. I believe this is telling of our lives on a regular basis, not just our eyesight. This week we pull one from the archives. The song is I AM. It’s a song about the power of the one who holds us when we can’t hold on ourselves. Yesterday was Easter. It’s the day that made this song more powerful. It was the day of hope and joy beyond explaining. Continue reading
This week we experience highs and lows. The beauty of spring sunshine is all too often overshadowed by the sogginess of rain clouds. Our days are joyful then sad and back again. Life is all too often like a rollercoaster that we didn’t want to ride! None of us begged to be born. None of us begged for the struggles in life. None of us pleaded for the challenges we face. So how do you manage when the pressures of life seem overwhelming? Continue reading
This week is a powerful week for people who call themselves Christians. We spend extra time in worship. We prep for Easter. We pause to reflect. We clean the house for the gatherings we’ll host with family and friends. We put in a few extra hours at church but it is so worth it! Continue reading
I was pondering a question the other day about my enemies. No, I don’t have a lot of them. Well, I’m sure I have some but I really don’t care because I’m not here to please the masses. But that’s not the point. I was wondering who is my biggest enemy. So I’ll ask you, who is your biggest enemy? Continue reading
I like being strong and in control. I like to know what’s coming and handle issues before they become problems. I have broad shoulders and I love to carry other people’s burdens. It’s what I do. It’s who I am. It’s the person God made me to be. Some call it compassion and well that’s true, but I don’t just feel other’s pain I try to prevent it. But if I’m being honest, I can’t fix every problem. I can’t prevent everyone’s pain. And sometimes even the strongest person needs a shoulder. Continue reading
The title here is pretty direct. There’s no mincing words at this point. It’s bold. It’s direct. And it’s true! This song has become for me a motto, a song that drives my every day. I’m not sure the last day that past when I didn’t have this song playing in my car or at least running through my mind. Continue reading
How many times have we gone through life feeling lonely? At one time or another, I am sure everyone has. Loneliness is a common feeling, but unfortunately, it is an unpleasant feeling. Where do you turn when you’re feeling lonely? Continue reading
Have you ever listened to the same song over and over again without ever getting tired of it? I’m sure if you heard that same song on repeat for twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week you would eventually want to listen to a new song. Just the other weekend I had the opportunity to go to the annual Christian concert, Winter Jam, with friends from church. I’ve been for six or seven years in a row and every year a band called Newsong sings the same song. Continue reading
