I don’t know about you, but I have to really think about what day it is when I wake up in the morning. These days are running together and without my good friend Siri, I’m not sure that I would be able to figure out what day of the week it is! So when the world seems off and the days are too long it helps me to realize that there is likely something going on that I can’t even see. Perhaps there’s a blessing hidden in plain sight.

This week’s MusicMonday is a song about the things happening around us as potential blessings in disguise. The worldwide pandemic. Can anything good come from it? The shelter in place orders. Have you learned anything because of them? Can you see the circumstances around you right now as a blessing at all?

The reality of the matter is, we are pretty short sighted. We can only see things right in front of us. We don’t have the ability all the time to see things with the greatest perspective, so we fear and fret and are anxious about life. But the truth of the matter is God can see what we can’t see. He can see the light at the end of our dark tunnel of life.

In the pain of life, God is building us to the person he wants us to be. In the loneliness he’s pulling us closer to him to rely on his good grace and presence everyday. In the backslides and slip-ups God is working to remind us that we are His people called by his name and set apart for His purpose – even when that purpose doesn’t line up with our plan.

So today take a minute and look around you to see if you can find the blessing that’s not on the surface. Take a moment to slow down and try to see the blessing that otherwise you would miss.
