This is Christmas week! It’s finally here! I know we’ll all be tempted to rush through this week in an attempt to just get it over with. What a shame! Christmas isn’t something to just get over with. As a matter of fact I even found myself in this train of thought this year. We were under construction at church, several family events leading up to Christmas, all of the extra worship services to prep, hospital and shut-in visits to make, and the list seemed to go on and on. I was just ready to wake up on December 28th and have it all behind me.
Then something happened. It was December 13th and we were gathered at church for a choir concert. About 180 people were gathered to listen to our join choirs perform some Christmas hits. Then I started to get filled up. I was filled up with the meaning of this season once again. That’s why this week I’ll be posting a new MusicMonday song each day this week. I pray that it helps you celebrate the real meaning of this Christmas season.
Today’s song is a simple one – Angels We Have Heard On High. The words remind us that this is a day to make us joyful. It’s a day to make us sing and shout and spend time together. It’s a day that’s more than the cleaning, wrapping and decorating. It’s a day more than just a baby. It’s a day for a world-changing event to break into our busyness. It’s a day that would alter the course of events forever. Now that Jesus has broken onto the scene things just aren’t the same any longer.
The angels proclaimed something huge was about to happen. They told us that a child, a savior, a king would be born. Listen to our song today and be reminded of the joy that this season truly brings to the world.
